Ali Hasanov: we listen to statements by international organizations, but act as we like
The head of the department for social and political issues of the Presidential Administration, Ali Hasanov, expressed his attitude about the arrest of the head of the Election Monitoring and Democracy Training Center, Anar Mammadli.
He told reporters that the evaluations and applications of international organizations concerning the arrest of Anar Mammadli "are not important for the Azerbaijani society." "We analyze these statements and evaluations. However, the Azerbaijani society has its own methods of management, legal basis and principles. The relevant authorities of Azerbaijan, before taking any action, primarily take into account the interests of the state and the requirements of the law," said Ali Hasanov. According to him, the Prosecutor General's Office has come up with the necessary statements about the arrest of Anar Mammadli, and the investigation is underway.
Note that the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry in yesterday's statement in connection with the U.S. State Department comments on the arrest of Mammadli evaluated that as "politicization of the criminal case and disrespect for the sovereignty of Azerbaijan."
Previously, Amnesty International recognized Anar Mammadli "prisoner of conscience." -16D04-
