Another group of pro-Iranian elements who were preparing unrest in Azerbaijan exposed
Baku/16.05.23/Turan: Azerbaijani Interior Ministry, State Security Service and General Prosecutor's Office made a joint statement on the detention of a group of Azerbaijani citizens cooperating with Iranian special services.
Rufullah Akhundzadeh and his son Almursal Akhundzadeh, who are in Iran, were planning armed riots with the purpose of violently changing the constitutional order of Azerbaijan and creating a state with religious principles. For this purpose, attempts on the lives of prominent statesmen were planned and a list of these persons was drawn up.
Rufullah Akhundzadeh created secret groups on "WhatsApp", "Telegram" and other messengers, where he transmitted to the militant groups the data and home addresses of persons to be eliminated. Members of the militant groups were instructed to obtain weapons and prepare "Molotov cocktails".
Rufullah Akhundzadeh held regular virtual meetings and instructed his supporters.
During the law enforcement operation, seven members of the militant group called "Revenge 313" were detained. They are ass follows: Elgun Agayev, Ruslan Aliyev, Yusif Mirzoyev, Elvin Jafarov, Savalan Huseynli, Bilal Sujaddinli and Maharrameli Musayev.
Members of the group were known to write radical religious slogans and paste them near administrative buildings and state bodies.
R. Akhundzadeh also planned to take members of the group to Iran for military training under the guise of receiving religious education.
Members of the group received funds from abroad to promote religious radicalism in Azerbaijan and finance other subversive activities.
It is reported that investigation and search operations on the case are ongoing.-02D-
