Arastun Orujlu leaves "Public Chamber"
The Head of Research Center "East-West", a political scientist Arastun Orujlu, announced his leaving the "Public Chamber".
In his statement, he pointed that recently some media reported about some agreement between the "Public Chamber" and the authorities. "Ignoring this information by the Coordinating Council of the "Public Chamber", unsystematic and the deepening crisis in the activity of this structure, cause a deep sense of regret and disappointment," reads the statements.
Orujlu said that he had joined the "Public Chamber" with the hope to work for benefit of the future of Azerbaijan. However, the above contradictory information caused his leaving this structure.
"I resigned from the "Public Chamber" and move on to an independent opposition activity," said Orujlu wishing all colleagues every success in the struggle for the democratic future of Azerbaijan.
* "Public Chamber" was founded in late 2010 by a group of former candidates who do not agree with the results of the parliamentary elections of November 7, 2010, regarding them as fraudulent.
Currently, the "Public Chamber" includes more than 300 politicians, civil society activists, journalists, academic intellectuals. —06D-

On November 19, the Sabail District Court of Baku granted the prosecution's request to extend the pretrial detention of Talysh researcher Iqbal Abilov for another four months, his lawyer, Rovshan Rahimov reported. According to the lawyer, the defense considers Abilov’s detention to be unjustified and disputes the charges brought against him. Abilov himself also rejected the accusations. The defense plans to file an appeal against the court's decision.
