Baku/25.01.21/Turan: The Armenian side highly appreciates the role of the United States in the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict and determining the status of Karabakh, says the congratulatory message of the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan to the US President's National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan on the occasion of his appointment to this post.

“Armenia attaches great importance to bilateral relations with the United States of America based on (principles of) democracy, human rights and the rule of law.

We also highly appreciate the role of the United States as co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group in the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict and the final determination of the status of Nagorno-Karabakh.

I am confident that the US efforts will play an effective role in establishing overall stability and security in the region, RIA Novosti quotes the text of the message.

Let us remind that earlier Anthony Blinken confirmed the importance of rendering assistance to Armenia in the sphere of security and economic growth.

Anthony Blinken also assured that he would give a new impetus to the US efforts to find a long-term settlement of the Karabakh conflict, noting that the decision should guarantee the security of Nagorno-Karabakh and prevent the outbreak of a new war. The US should step up its participation as a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group and "prevent possible third-party interference."

According to him, the new administration will revise assistance to Azerbaijan in the field of security and, if necessary, restore the amendment to the 907th amendment adopted by the Congress in 1992. This amendment to the law supporting freedom was adopted by Armenian lobbyists. The amendment prohibited the provision of government assistance to Azerbaijan "because of the aggression against Nagorno-Karabakh." In 2001, the Senate froze this resolution when the Americans needed Azerbaijani airspace for a military operation in Afghanistan. -02D-
