Azerbaijan is one of the main buyers of Israeli weapons
Baku/13.08.21/Turan: In 2020, the volume of Israel's defense supplies abroad increased by 15%, to 8.3 billion dollars. According to Israeli media reports, this was reported by the country's defense ministry.
44 % of exports are accounted for by Asian countries, including the Persian Gulf, 30% - by European states and Azerbaijan, and 20% - by the United States and Canada.
According to data from open sources, currently the volume of Azerbaijan's defense orders in Israel amounted to about $ 2 billion.
Among the list of acquired and received weapons: small arms, artillery systems, air defense systems, armored vehicles, communications and reconnaissance equipment, combat and reconnaissance drones.
The recent opening of Azerbaijan's torpedo mission in Israel will further strengthen cooperation between the two countries. Israeli sources do not exclude that the current rapprochement between Israel and Azerbaijan is dictated by two circumstances. First, the consequences of the war in Nagorno-Karabakh, during which Israeli weapons made a significant contribution to the victory. Secondly, the warming in relations between Israel and Turkey, an important ally of Azerbaijan. They make it clear in Baku that they are ready to become a mediator in the settlement between Jerusalem and Ankara. -02B-
