Azerbaijan presented Armenia an "extended version" of the five principles of the settlement - Bayramov
Baku/12.10.22/Turan: Baku presented to Yerevan "an expanded version of the five basic principles of the settlement," the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov told journalists on Wednesday in Bishkek.
According to him, the Armenian side asked for time to study the proposals. “While there was no response from Armenia, the reaction is not yet clear to us,” he said.
In March 2022, Azerbaijan offered Armenia to conclude a peace agreement based on the following principles:
- mutual recognition of sovereignty, territorial integrity, inviolability of international borders and political independence of each other;
- mutual confirmation of the absence of territorial claims of states against each other and a legal obligation not to make such claims in the future;
- refrain from threatening each other's security in interstate relations, from using threats and force against political independence and territorial integrity, as well as from other circumstances incompatible with the purposes of the UN Charter;
- delimitation and demarcation of the state border, establishment of diplomatic relations;
- the opening of transport and communications, the establishment of other relevant communications and cooperation in other areas of mutual interest.
Yerevan stated that it accepts these principles, but believes that the issue of the status of Nagorno-Karabakh does not concern the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia and should be considered separately. --02B--
