Cases of the accused of the "Terter case" returned to the Court of Appeal
Baku/13.07.21 / Turan: The Supreme Court of Azerbaijan has returned cases of the three military charged with crimes against "Terter case" defendants for reconsideration by the appeal instance.
A new hearing will be held at the Ganja Court of Appeal under the chairmanship of Chingiz Mammadov on July 30.
The return of the case is due to the fact that three military officers – major Fuad Agayev, senior warrant officer Gurban Dzhumshudov and junior warrant officer Javid Agadadashev have got light sentences. It is worth reminding that Rasul Jafarov, a human rights activist and head of the Baku Human Rights Club, wrote about this on his Facebook page.
"More than 100 people have been found victims in the case, including persons tortured to death. Now there are legal conditions for a full investigation of the "Terter case", identification of all perpetrators and recognition of other victims as victims. I hope that these opportunities will be used, " the human rights activist wrote.
* On May 7, 2017, the Prosecutor General's Office, State Security Service, Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan reported on the detention of a group of military personnel and civilians for spying in favor of the Armenian special services.
The Prosecutor's Office opened a criminal case under Article 274 (high treason) of the Criminal Code. The detainees were sentenced to various terms of imprisonment. However, it soon became known that during the investigation at least 8 suspects had been killed as a result of tortures. Later, four of the victims were acquitted, and the investigators who fabricated charges against them got sentences up to 7 years of imprisonment.
Last month, 24 members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe launched an initiative to investigate tortures in Azerbaijan. An appropriate document №1551 was published on June 25 on the PACE website . Note that the Italian senator, Roberta Rampi came as investigation initiator.
The authors of the document squared the need in investigation with the facts of large-scale tortures in the "Terter case", whose victims numbered more than 200 servicemen, 11 of whom died.—03B06-

The United States and the European Union, which tried to position themselves as mediators in the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, have come up with nothing and merely copied Russia's ideas, distorting their essence in order to "hijack" the peace process for themselves. However, their true goal was to take control of the region, to insert themselves into it, and to push out Russia, as well as Iran and Türkiye, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated at a briefing on November 13.
