Causes of MI-17 crash remain unclear
Baku/01.12.21/Turan: A day later the causes of the crash of an Azerbaijani border guards helicopter which killed 14 people remain unclear.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, a black box was found and the investigation began to study its data. In turn, the head of the Border Guard Service, Elchin Guliyev stated at a briefing that the helicopter was fully operational, and its pilot was one of the best.
According to Guliyev, the helicopter crashed during the approach. However, he ruled out any external impact. The two survivors of the crash who have already given testimonies can bring clarity to the crash.
It is notable that no state media, including the TV station AZTV, were allowed access to the crash site. The report filmed hundreds of meters from the crash site, did not clarify much. However, the footage did show parts of the helicopter scattered at a considerable distance from the crash site. This suggests that the helicopter began to disintegrate already in the air. This could have happened for several reasons: a technical failure, an explosion on board, or a collision with another object. If an explosion is ruled out, as well as a collision, there remains a technical malfunction.
We have to assume that the investigation will establish the true cause.-0-
