Date of Next Meeting of Authorities and Political Parties Unknown

The date of the next meeting of representatives of the Presidential Administration and members of political parties is unknown. The first such meeting was held on 12 February, attended by the head of a department of the Presidential Administration, Ali Hasanov. Then he said that such meetings will be held at least once every two months.

Since then, the Presidential Administration has not proposed any new appointment, the head of the People's Party Panah Hussein told Turan.

He also said that the eight parties have already sent the administration a list of questions that they would like to raise at the meeting in April.

"This list includes electoral reforms before the parliamentary elections of 2015, and in particular, the restoration of the proportional election system, changes to the Electoral Code, changes to the composition of election commissions, the problem of political prisoners, and others," said Hussein.

Recall that at the meeting on February 12, Ali Hasanov assured the meeting that the authorities are ready to discuss all issues "worrying the people, the authorities and the international organizations."

He also said that the meeting is open to all active existing political parties, regardless of their official registration. "Although some parties did not come to the meeting, we invite them too," Hasanov said.

On April 12 the two months announced by Hasanov will be completed. Turan’s attempt to get a comment in the Presidential Administration about the timing of the meeting with political parties was to no avail.

Recall that the leading opposition forces, Popular Front Party and Musavat refused to participate in the meeting with Ali Hasanov. They explained their refusal, saying that the authorities only "mimic" a dialogue, as they need to show the international community that they supposedly hold discussions with the opposition on key issues. "We do not want to participate in this theater,” PFPA said then. -03B-
