European Parliament unanimously sided with the protesting Ukrainians
European Parliament unanimously expressed support for the Ukrainians who came to "Euromaydan" . According to Interfax -Ukraine , on Tuesday in Strasbourg at the plenary session of the European Parliament , many MPs spoke about the need to play a specific role for the resolution of the political crisis.
In particular, the deputy Jacek Protasiewicz (European populists ) said that the European Parliament "should support those who are on the street, who are looking for the resumption of dialogue on an association agreement ."
Similar proposals were heard in almost every speech.
Deputy Jacek Wolski said that Ukraine " is a key issue for Europe." "We have to clearly state this in a resolution to be put to the vote on Thursday ."
"We must express our solidarity with the Ukrainians . And we should give them a hope," he added.
The head of the Committee for External Relations of the European Parliament Elmar Brok said that "the choice of the country belongs to the people of Ukraine, not Russia.
More specific in his proposals was the leader of the Liberals and Democrats Graham Watson , who told the European Parliament on the need to be involved in the resolution of the political crisis in Ukraine: " We need to be more constructive and to speak more openly about the elephant in a china shop - about Russia, and send a full mission to Kiev to protect the country's European future."
Criticizing the European Union, Deputy Richard Legutko ( conservatives and reformists ) said that the Eastern Partnership " has never been a favorite child of the EU." " Therefore, it is not surprising that someone has won, It's Russia , and the one who lost is the EU."
Brussels never treated with Ukraine as a strategic long-term partner. " It was a national government in Paris, Berlin or elsewhere, who played their selfish bilateral games with Russia," he said.
MP Pawel Kowal, talking about specific actions of the European Parliament , called for the speedy granting visa-free regime for Ukrainians .
"These debates can have a specific result - we have to say to young Ukrainians that we open the door for them," he said . -02D-
