Ex-owner of "Rustavi 2", Khalvashi, is detained and released in Azerbaijan
Tbilisi/17.01.13/Turan-/BS PRESS: The former owner of "Rustavi 2", Kibar Khalvashi, who was wanted the last few years, and was detained on January 17 in Azerbaijan, was released at the request of the Georgian side, according to General Prosecutor of Georgia.
In 2008, Kibar Khalvashi, was accused in his absence of financial fraud. In 2009, he was granted political asylum in Germany. On December 5, 2012 the Parliament of Georgia recognized Khalvashi as persecuted on political grounds, and subject to amnesty.
"We promptly forwarded to Azerbaijan documentation related to Kibar Khalvashi, and he was released," reported the head of public relations department, Khatuna Paichadze.
After a coalition "Georgian Dream" has become a ruling force in Georgia, replacing "United National Movement", Khalvashi announced his intention to regain the "Rustavi-2", which, according to him, the former authorities by threats forced him to give up. -02D-
