Festive rally of the National Council of Democratic Forces

Baku/28.05.18/Turan: A festive meeting of the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijani People's Republic took place at the monument to Mamedamin Rasulzade in Novkhani settlement. Before the action, its participants released white pigeons and balls into the sky. Speaking at the rally, the leader of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) Ali Kerimli, called the creation of APR a significant event in the history of the Azerbaijani people. He expressed regret that the democratic forces had not yet succeeded in realizing the values and ideals of freedom of the APR. "In this sense, we are indebted to our founding grandfathers. But this is temporary. We will establish a democratic state in Azerbaijan, which will ensure the rights of all regardless of national, religious, political affiliation," Kerimli said. Participants in the rally condemned the recent arrests of the PFPA activists on charges of "laundering money."

"Let them conduct a search in the house of Ali Kerimli and the smallest state official and see who has what," the leader of the rally, PFPA activist Ilham Huseyn, said sarcastically. The head of the NCDF, Jamil Hasanli, noted that the founders of the APR created an exemplary model of democracy in Azerbaijan at that time and this was recognized by foreign diplomats. However, the current regime discredits Azerbaijan in the international arena. "Today, neither the international scandal with corruption, money laundering, monopolies, the Azerbaijani authorities are emerging. But we will send this criminal regime to the dustbin of history with our consistent struggle," Hasanli said. Participants of the rally chanted the slogans "Azerbaijan", "Rasulzadeh", "Resign!". -03C06
