Iranian authorities want to hide the Extent of the Humanitarian Disaster
Iranian authorities have deliberately refused international assistance addressing the consequences of the devastating earthquake in Eastern Azerbaijan province that occurred on August 11. This is to hide the extent of the tragedy, as announced at today's round table organized by the World Azerbaijanis Congress (WAC).
The head of WAC South Azerbaijan Department, Babak Muganli said, in fact, there are about five thousand earthquake victims. At the meeting it was called a “crime” that rescue efforts were stopped after three days, even though, people may have been saved from the rubble.
In addition, an opinion was expressed an opinion that the earthquake was not a natural disaster, but rather a result from the use of tectonic weapons or nuclear weapon tests. The earthquake also revealed the province’s weak social development, where ethnic Azerbaijanis live. Many houses are built of bricks, and many people died after choking on the dust that rose from the devastation.
The Round Table demanded the government of Iran provide the necessary assistance to victims as soon as possible, giving them the due compensation and solving social and economic problems of the provinces. -05S06-
