Karabakh Separatists Have Decided Not to Fly
Interesting metamorphosis occurred in the past day on the Armenian side. So, in the evening of 8 October, the "Foreign Ministry" of Karabakh issued a statement, in which it accused Baku and Ankara of trying to prevent the opening of the airport in Khojaly.
Separatists also called unfounded the links of Baku to the Chicago Convention.
"NKR Foreign Ministry also considers it necessary to note that the opening of the Stepanakert airport becomes extremely relevant in the face of continuing blockade of self-determined Nagorno-Karabakh from Azerbaijan.
In this context, Azerbaijan's statements are not worthy of a civilized state, and are contrary to the principles of democracy and human freedom," was said in the statement.
From the above it can be concluded that the Armenians are not afraid of threats to stop flights by Baku and plan to start operation of the airport. However, in the morning of 9 October Armenian media reported the message:
"NKR Foreign Ministry did not make any official statement on the situation around the Stepanakert airport.
ArmInfo reports that due to a technical failure in the computer networks, they accidentally received a draft of an official statement of the NKR MFA. Thus, the agency issued a message at 16:18 (No 34), which should not be considered as an official document of the NKR MFA."
One can only guess what is behind the Armenian way, but, most likely, Yerevan received tough suggestion and warning against the aircraft flying to Karabakh. -02D-
