Loreen wants a successful campaign "Art for Democracy"
Monday evening in the Media Center the Institute of Reporters Freedom and Safety (IRFS) presented a new advocacy campaign Art for Democracy) It was founded by the Club of Human Rights (CHR), IRFS and the Center of National and International Studies.
As the coordinator of the project, the head of the CHR Rasul Jafarov said, the goal of the campaign is to draw attention to human rights issues through the arts.
In particular, the campaign is expected for film festivals, music competitions, exhibitions of works of art and other cultural events on issues of human rights and democracy.
Jafarov called symbolic that the campaign was launched on the International Day of Human Rights.
Participants of the presentation were presented a 5-minute animated film on the concept of human rights, with an explanation of all human rights. Thus the main idea of the film is emphasizing that human freedom is a birthright.
The film was shot by young activists.
In addition, the launch of the campaign and the two-year anniversary of the establishment of the CHR caused video calls from abroad by representatives of international human rights organizations, Azerbaijani political emigrants, as well as the winner of "Eurovision-2012" in Baku - Swedish singer Loreen.
The PR-campaign will deal with well-known international human rights activist Rebecca Vincent.
Evening, December 11 the campaign will be submitted directly to a group of artists.
Art for Democracy is the logical continuation of the campaign Music for Democracy held in Baku in connection with the contest Eurovision 2012. -06C-

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) today issued five rulings on applications from Azerbaijan. The case of "Afgan Mammadov v. Azerbaijan" concerned the complainant's exclusion from the Bar Association. Mammadov was expelled based on a complaint filed by a colleague, which he considered unjust. The ECHR ruled that Mammadov's rights had been violated and ordered Azerbaijan to pay him €5,000 in compensation for moral damage and €1,000 to cover legal costs.

During the ongoing COP29 climate conference in Baku on November 14, a group of activists staged a protest condemning Russia's aggression against Ukraine. The activists also denounced countries that supply oil and weapons to nations waging aggressive wars. The protest featured placards with slogans such as: "From fossil fuels to peace!", "End war crimes!", "Punish the aggressor!", and "Phase out fossil fuel use to achieve peace!" among others.
