Mazahir Panahov will be a magician for another five years

Mazahir Panahov has been re-elected  to the post of the head of the Central Election Commission  for the fourth five-year term. It happened on Friday at the first meeting of the new-elected members of the Central Election Commission (CEC)  formed by the parliamentary groups. Six of the 18 members of the CEC were nominated by the majority party - the "Yeni Azerbaijan", six more - non-party, the other six - the parliamentary parties minority.

Of the 18 members - 16 people previously were  members of the CEC.  Tamam Jafarova from the ruling party, and Akif Gurbanov were not elected. In recent years Gurbanov was  the only voice of opposition in the CEC, and in particular, he refused to sign the election results protocols in connection with the massive violations. He was a protege of the party "Umid", which  during the parliamentary elections in 2015 lost its sole representative in the Parliament.

Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission  was re-elected Natig Mammadov. Secretaries  remained the same: Mikail Rahimov and Arif Mukhtarov. -06D-
