"Musavat" appeals to the Constitutional Court regarding amendments
“Musavat” party called on the Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan not to give a positive opinion on the amendments to the basic law, proposed by the head of state on July 18, reads the appeal to the Constitutional Court of the party leader Arif Hajili.
The party justifies its opinion by the fact that in some cases has been violated the procedure for making changes and amendments, and the acceptance of a number of the amendments are contrary to the international obligations as they limit the rights and freedoms of citizens.
Strengthening the presidential power violates the principle of separation of powers, and in fact creates a monarchical system of government, the statement says. " Taking into account the above mentioned , and the fact that these changes and amendments are contrary to the values of the Declaration of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 1918, the Act of Restoration of Independence 18 October 1991, the fundamental principles of the Constitution of Azerbaijan, the principle of separation of powers, the whole spirit of the Constitution, the "Musavat "party considers unacceptable the positive conclusion of the Constitutional Court on the proposed amendments and changes, and bringing them to a referendum," said an appeal. -02D-
