Musavat calls on the Azerbaijani authorities to support Ukraine
The Musavat party issued a statement in response to recent events in Ukraine and Crimea.
The statement authors remind us of the struggle of the Ukrainian people for integration into the European Union, noting the EU's and US' recognition of the legitimacy of the new government.
The statement noted that Russia does not want to recognize the new government of Ukraine and therefore pumps separatist sentiment in this country, providing military aid to the separatists in Crimea.
The statement authors have no doubt that "the military forces in the Crimea are related to Russia." The Crimean parliament decided to hold a referendum on independence under pressure, so it has no legal force. The document strongly condemns Russian military intervention in Crimea and attempts of provocation in other regions of Ukraine. The statement noted that the authors support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, as well as the just demands of the people of this country. However, the document stressed that "not yet exhausted all the possibilities for solving the problem in the framework of the Constitution of Ukraine and international norms."
The statement authors urge Baku clearly to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the strategic partner, Ukraine, and openly support the friendly Ukrainian people and the Crimean Tatars. -05D04-
