NATO expands cooperation with Georgia
NATO Secretary General, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, promised Georgia increased cooperation, without mentioning, however, about the prospects of its joining the Alliance. According to AFP, Rasmussen said about it on June 25 at a conference in Brussels.
"We have reached an agreement in principle to develop for Georgia extensive package of measures that will help her get closer to NATO," Rasmussen said, adding that the specific elements of the plan will be worked out in the coming weeks.
The NATO likely will focus on strengthening cooperation with Georgia in the field of defense, but no more than that, say diplomatic sources.
Alliance plans before the end of 2015 to decide whether to invite Montenegro to join the military alliance, said NATO Secretary General.
According to him, the Alliance still keeps to a policy of "open doors"."None of the third country has no right to veto NATO enlargement process," said Rasmussen. -02D-
