The term of the arrest of youth activist is extended
On June 24 the Binagadi district court extended for a month the arrest of youth activist Orhan Eyubzade accused of resisting police. A lawyer Asabali Mustafayev called the decision unreasonable, since no investigation concerning Eyubzade is carried out, and there is no reason to keep him in custody. Mustafayev said the decision will be filed with the appeal.
The lawyer also noted that the keeping Eyubzade in custody is dangerous, because of the young man suffers from convulsions, and he I not provided medical assistance.
Lawyer called the absurd the charges of resisting police while serving administrative detention. He said that just the police used force during the arrest of activist in the end of last year.
Eyubzade was arrested on May 6 to 20 days for taking part in a protest against the sentence of eight activists of the NIDA Movement. However, after the expiration of his arrest, he was not released. He was taken to the Binagadi Court, who arrested him for a month under Article 315.1 of the Criminal Code (use of violence against a government representative.) The Article provides a punishment by up to three years imprisonment. -06D-
