The term of the arrest of youth activist is extended

On June 24 the  Binagadi district court extended  for a month the arrest of youth activist Orhan Eyubzade accused of resisting  police. A lawyer Asabali Mustafayev called the decision unreasonable, since no investigation concerning Eyubzade  is carried out, and there is no reason to keep him in custody. Mustafayev said the decision will be filed with the appeal.

The lawyer also noted that the keeping  Eyubzade in  custody  is dangerous, because of the young man  suffers from convulsions, and he I not provided medical assistance.

Lawyer called the  absurd the charges  of  resisting police while serving administrative detention. He said that just the police used force during the arrest of activist  in the end of last year.

Eyubzade was arrested on  May 6 to 20 days for taking part in a protest against the sentence of eight activists  of the NIDA Movement. However, after the expiration of his arrest, he was not released. He was taken to  the  Binagadi Court, who arrested him for a month under Article 315.1 of the Criminal Code (use of violence against a government representative.) The  Article provides a punishment   by up to three years imprisonment. -06D-
