NIDA: arrests cannot intimidate us!
NIDA Movement issued a statement condemning the arrest of six activists - members of the organization. The activists were arrested on trumped up charges and political reasons, the statement said.
NIDA regards pursuit of its activists as government pressure and demands the immediate release of all those arrested.
"Civic Movement NIDA is not afraid of arrests and will not retreat. On the contrary, we are even more determined to continue the fight," said in the statement.
Recall that on March 7, were arrested the activists Bakhtiyar Guliyev, Shaheen Novruzlu and Mamed Azizov. They were accused of preparing acts of violence during the upcoming protest on March 10 against soldiers’ deaths. According to the investigation, in the apartments of activists were found explosives and drugs. However, their relatives said that the substances were brought by employees of law enforcement agencies. On March 14 was arrested another activist of NIDA Rashad Hasanov. Amnesty International has recognized the detainees "prisoners of conscience."
On March 30 were also arrested two more members of the board of NIDA Rashadat Akhundov and Uzeir Mammadli. -6B06-
