On Corruption Level Azerbaijan 123rd among 176 States
Azerbaijan with 30 points ranked 123 among 176 countries in the Corruption Perceptions Index of Transparency International.
100 points are the indicator of the best situation, while 0 points are an indicator of high corruption, said the NGO Transparency Azerbaijan.
The study authors note that in 2016, Azerbaijan eliminated a number of barriers to entrepreneurial activity, including problems that create grounds for corruption. Reforms in the economic sphere contribute to the promotion of Azerbaijan in the index.
However, there is a need to expand in the area of democratic governance reforms and the rule of law. Among the achievements the ASAN service is marked.
However, several problems are still not solved. Due to lack of the income statement, the requirements of the law for officials’ financial information are not fulfilled.
The draft law on conflicts of interest has been developed, but not adopted.
The business environment is also negatively affected by not providing information about the founders of commercial legal entities.
There is a need to increase transparency in the allocation and expenditure of public funds and public control in this field should be strengthened and the powers of the Accounting Chamber should be expanded.
It is necessary to simplify the grant legislation to remove legal and bureaucratic obstacles to the activities of civil society.
Note that in the neighbors of Azerbaijan the situation with corruption is better, especially in Georgia, which was ranked 44th in the ranking, and Armenia – the 113th. -03D06-
