OSCE Mission Meets Opposition
Baku / 20.12.19 / Turan: The pre-election situation in Azerbaijan was the focus of today's meeting of the OSCE / ODIHR Mission with representatives of opposition parties and organizations of Azerbaijan.
Oppositionists informed about the socio-political situation in the country on the eve of the February 9 parliamentary elections.
The participants in the meeting told Turan that there is a virtual lack of atmosphere for fair and free elections, restrictions of freedom of expression, control of election commissions by the authorities, obstacles to candidates, and political prisoners in the country.
The meeting lasted 4 hours and was attended by representatives of the parties ReAl, Popular Front, Musavat, the NIDA movement and the National Council.
Based on the recommendations of the Needs Assessment Mission, the ODIHR will decide whether to send long-term and short-term observers to the parliamentary elections. —21C-
