Pashinyan makes it clear that there will be no talks on Karabakh

Moscow / 10.09.18 / Turan: Armenia against Azerbaijan's entry into CSTO, until the Karabakh conflict is resolved, stated in the interview to the newspaper "Kommersant" by the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan. He also said that Baku is exacerbating the situation at the front in order to distract the population from internal problems and is therefore threatened with war. If the war begins, Armenia will do everything to repel Azerbaijan, he said.

"Azerbaijan hopes that it will succeed in provoking the deterioration of relations between Armenia and Russia, in order to begin provocative actions against this background. But since you all see, we all became convinced that there are no and no global political problems in the relations between Armenia and Russia, I think that this scenario of Azerbaijan simply failed. The problem is that the President of Azerbaijan fears that the democratic processes that have occurred in Armenia can move to Azerbaijan and wants to distract the attention of their citizens from internal problems by aggravation of the situation in Karabakh, on the line of contact with Karabakh with the help of some provocations and somehow overcome these internal political problems that now exist."

"We must all work to create conditions for a real peaceful settlement of the conflict. Armenia should follow this path, but Azerbaijan should know that it is impossible to talk with Armenia through threats," he continued.

Pashinyan repeated the thesis that he would not conduct negotiations on behalf of Karabakh.

"The people of Nagorno-Karabakh do not participate in the formation of power in Armenia. They have their own power, their government, their president. Karabakh should be represented by a legitimate representative who has a mandate to represent this people. This does not mean that we refuse negotiations, we are ready for them at any time. But the representative of Karabakh should represent Karabakh," he said. -02D-
