Pashinyan will demand explanations from Lukashenko and Nazarbayev
Baku / 17.11.18 / Turan: Acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said that he would require explanations from the presidents of Belarus and Kazakhstan because of their statements on the CSTO Secretary General. Pashinyan said that Lukashenko at the meeting with the ambassador of Azerbaijan revealed the contents of a closed meeting of the leaders of the CSTO countries in Astana.
The President of Kazakhstan, in turn, said that the new CSTO Secretary General should be the representative of Belarus, but Armenia wants to keep this post, but he will not have time for the remaining year. "I, undoubtedly, will demand explanations from the president of Belarus and not only. Statements that contradict our agreements were also made by the President of Kazakhstan, who, after a meeting behind closed doors, announced the upcoming appointment of a representative of Belarus as the new CSTO Secretary General," Pashinyan told reporters in Yerevan on November 16.
He recalled that "no one has the right to make such statements, because in the CSTO decisions are taken on the basis of consensus, and we (the Armenian side) have already stated our position on this issue."
The candidacy of the CSTO Secretary General will be determined on December 6 in St. Petersburg. -02D-
