PFPA and Musavat declare prosecution of participants in the rally on January 19
Baku / 23.01.19 / Turan: Participants in the opposition rally on January 19 in recent days are massively called to police stations.
These are mainly members of the National Council of Democratic Forces, activists and dozens of supporters of the Popular Front and Musavat parties.
The party "Musavat" regarded the calls to the police across the country of the opposition as a violation of the fundamental rights of citizens.
The party demanded an immediate cessation of the persecution of citizens for participating in actions authorized by the authorities and the release of all those arrested in connection with the exercise of freedom of assembly.
The Musavat party states that the party activist Elman Guliyevwas detained and arrested on the eve of the rally.
After the rally in various regions of the country, representatives of local authorities and the police ring up activists of the party and demand to come to the police and subject them to moral pressure.
Another party activist, Elvin Abdullayev, has been detained since yesterday in the Khatai district police department.
The party believes that by such methods the authorities violate freedom of expression, seek to intimidate society and prevent the mass character of the next rally.
In turn, the leader of the Popular Front Party Ali Kerimli reported on the arrests in recent days of 16 party functionaries.
"They call a huge number of people and warn them not to go to rallies." If theymanage to intimidate someone, they threaten them; but those who respond sharply are asked not to go to rallies,"writes Kerimli on his Facebook page.
Ordinary participants are threatened, but the organizers of the rally are put under administrative arrest, he said.-03B-
