Police violently disperse the opposition rally in central Baku
Police brutally suppressed the opposition rally to demand the dissolution of parliament on Fountain Square. The rally was scheduled for 15.00. As soon as the first group of protesters, chanting slogans such as "Freedom", "Resign!", appeared in the square, the policemen detained them by force.
The correspondent of Yeni Musavat Ilgar Faraimoglu suffered blows to the ribs. It is noteworthy that Faraimoglu wore a jacket marked "Press". Other reporters were also prevented from working by the police, without passing on the place of the action. However, some media workers were abused, Turan reported from the scene.
According to the party Musavat, police arrested 13 of its members. Popular Front (PPFA) reported the detention of its deputy Gezal Bayramli. Police dislocated her arm during the arrest and prevent doctors to visit her at the police station.
All this took place a week after the government and the OSCE pompously held a seminar on "security of journalists during public events."
This time police acted more toughly and aggressively than during the similar protest on October 20. -06B-
