Public Chamber: in Connection with Gular Ahmedova Case Parliament Should Resign
The scandalous videotaped interview the former rector of the abolished Azerbaijan International University (AIU) Elshad Abdullayev and Deputy Gular Ahmedova about bribery for "election" in parliament began exposing the corrupt nature of the ruling regime in Azerbaijan.
This was the leitmotif of public discussions organized on Saturday at the headquarters of the Musavat party by the opposition Public Chamber.
The scandal, as the leader of the party Musavat Isa Gambar said, means the current regime of Azerbaijan is exposed to crash.
The panelists expressed their protest against the qualification by the law enforcement of the actions shown in the video as a fraud. They believe that there is a fact of serious state crimes.
Moreover, it was emphasized that this disclosure is not just about Ahmedova, but also sheds light on the mechanism of "the formation of the deputies" as a whole.
The participants find that there is a sufficient reason to assume that all elections in Azerbaijan are rigged.
They urged the people to raise their voices in protest, because, falsifying elections, the government violates the rights of every citizen.
The participants agreed that it's time to say to the falsification mode "Come on, goodbye!"
The way out is to dissolve parliament and hold new fair elections. If it is not done, the authorities will later regret it, as it was announced at the meeting.
It was also decided to send to law enforcement requests, demanding an explanation, why they did not consider the repeated appeals from Abdullayev on facts of a criminal nature.
In addition, they took a decision to appeal to the PACE that the members of the Azerbaijani delegation did not have the right to represent the people of Azerbaijan, as they have mandates from rigged elections.
Along with this, they demanded release from prison of the chief editor of Khural, Avaz Zeynalli arrested based on slanderous complaints from Gular Ahmedova.
The panelists endorsed the idea of an appeal from the Public Chamber to the people in order to clarify the nature of recent events in the country.
