Arrested Youth Activist of NIDA
This morning, police arrested a blogger and an activist of the opposition youth organization NIDA Zaur Gurbanli. As his comrades told Turan, Gurbanli was arrested in the morning, when he was about to go to Sheki. Initially, the police took him to the Yasamal Police Department, and then to the office of another NGO - Positive Change, headed by a former political prisoner and blogger Bakhtiyar Hajiyev.
”The policement that came with Gurbanli raided and seized printed materials of NIDA,” Bakhtiyar Hajiyev told Turan.
They were ten men in civilian clothes, who did not introduce themselves, Hajiyev said. Meanwhile, the friends of the detainee reported that the policemen named themselves employees of the Office of Fight against Organized Crime. What exactly Gurbanli is accused of is unknown.
This activist is known for his activity on the Internet, and criticism of the authorities. In turn, in the Yasamal District Police Department they told Turan Gurbanli had not been brought to them. Our attempts to get through to the press service of the Interior Ministry failed. -02B-
