Ramiz Mehdiyev West - We are not puppets

The head of the presidential administration Ramiz Mehdiyev published in the official media  another anti-Western article entitled: "On the  sources of degradation of European institutions or  a policy of double standards towards Azerbaijan."

Unlike a similar lengthy article published y Mehdiyev a year ago, this time the tip of his criticism is not directed not gainst the US , but against the EU and the EU countries.

He article is the answer to the European Parliament resolution of 10 September which criticized  Azerbaijan and  the refusal of the OSCE ODIHR to send observers to the elections in Azerbaijan. As always, Mehdiyev accused the EU, some institutions of the Council of Europe, OSCE of bias against Azerbaijan. In his view, they are using the issue of human rights to put pressure on a sovereign state.

The basis of this position are "Azerbaijan's successes in economic development and nation-building and its independent course."

At the same time, Mehtiyev accuses Europe of xenophobia, double standards and discrimination of refugees. It is the Council of Europe "even a little" borrow Azerbaijani traditions of tolerance, religious tolerance and multiculturalism.

Mehdiyev also believes that the EU is double standards to conflicts in the program "Eastern Partnership". In particular, Europe condemns the annexation of the Crimea by Russia, but condemns the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia.

Some of the actions of EU institutions even have a negative impact on the peace process on the Karabakh settlement. So, the EU encourages the sly NGOs of Armenia and Turkey to normalize relations between Ankara and Yerevan without taking into account the interests of Azerbaijan.

At that time, as the leaders of Abkhazia and South Ossetia denied entry into Europe, Nagorno Karabakh separatists available Schengen visas, their deputies and take official representatives of the EU countries.

Mehdiyev pointed out that Azerbaijan is ready to partner with all EU countries, but only on an equal basis.

Mehdiyev calls the European Parliament the main mouthpiece of the anti-Azerbaijani policy. At the same time, it notes that the European Parliament has no real power, and its resolutions are not legally binding.

Mehdiyev outraged that MEPs, wearing T-shirts with the image of the journalist Khadija Ismailova, never wore T-shirts with a photo  of civiians  Azerbaijanis killed by Armenians.

Criticizing the position of the OSCE Minsk group calling on Armenia and Azerbaijan to find a compromise, the EU does not have any impact on the aggressor.

If the  Dayton Agreements were signed by the countries in conflict in the former Yugoslavia ?- asks Mehdiyev.

Further, he reproached the ODIHR OSCE which  refused to send Election Observation Mission to Azerbaijan.

Ramiz Mehdiyev denies the existence of the problem of political prisoners, considering that this concept is defined by the PACE on the basis of "the subjective views of certain members of the Assembly."

Mehtiyev accuses of bias international human rights organizations: "Sports for Rights", "Civil Solidarity Platform", "People in Need", "Human Rights House", "Center for Civil Liberties", FIDH, "Platform London", "Index of Censorship "," Amnesty International "," Human Rights Watch ".

"Behind these structures are hostile forces to Azerbaijan,"  he wrote adding that their resolutions and the statements cannot influence the will of the Azerbaijani people and its leadership.

"The sooner the EU and other centers of power understand it, the more effective will be of our collaboration with our partners and international organizations. The relationship must be based on justice and equality. Azerbaijan has been and remains an important partner for the West. Our relationship can only be equal. Status of  puppets is excluded," summed up Mehdiyev.- 03D06-
