Baku / 15.01.20 / Turan: Iranian President called on the armed forces to apologize for the late admission of guilt for the downed Ukrainian plane. Rouhani's speech was broadcast by state television.
According to the Iranian president, the authorities should treat their citizens with decency and trust. Those responsible for the death of the liner should explain what exactly caused the tragedy, Rouhani emphasized. He called on Iranians to national unity amid protests after the crash.
The Boeing of Ukraine’s International Airlines, flying from Tehran to Kiev, crashed on January 8 shortly after takeoff. Onboard were 176 people, most of them are citizens of Iran and Canada. They all died.
At first, the Iranian authorities claimed that the cause of the crash was a technical malfunction. Tehran later admitted that the plane was shot down by a ground-to-air missile. The responsibility for the shelling was assumed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
According to recent reports, the plane was shot down not by one, but by two missiles. -02D-
