Simplified visa regime with the EU will come into effect no earlier than the second half of 2014
Simplified visa regime between Azerbaijan and the EU will be come into effect not earlier than the second half of 2014, said a source in the Azerbaijani government commenting on the agreement on visa facilitation regime with the EU signed in Vilnius the day before. To put into operation into operation this regime, other related steps should be taken, in particular, signing an agreement with the EU on readmission, assuming obligations on return of illegal migrants. The agreement is scheduled for the first quarter of next year.
Both agreements must be ratified by the European Parliament and of the Milli Majlis , then synchronously enter into force.
Besides, Azerbaijan must sign separate agreements on the facilitation with other member countries of the Schengen area, but non-EU countries - Norway, Switzerland, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
Simplified regime will involve reducing the number of documents submitted to obtain Schengen visas , as well as reducing the cost of duty from 60 to 35 euros.
For some categories of citizens duties will be abolished altogether – for persons leaving for education, treatment, visiting relatives.
Owners of diplomatic passports will be able to make visa-free travels. -06D -
