The meeting of heads of governments of Georgia and Azerbaijan

The Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili received on Monday the head of the government of Azerbaijan Artur Rasizade and the members of his delegation. According to the press service, the sides discussed the main issues on the agenda, discussed the prospects of cooperation.  The project  of the pipeline Baku-Supsa today can be named project of the century, which  gave the way to a new era and created a greater guarantee of stability and peace in the South Caucasus region,  said Giorgi Kvirikashvili, opening the meeting.

"After 20 years we are witnessing the continuing important efforts of those whose aim was to involve a "Southern Energy Corridor." It has started with the project of Baku-Supsa oil pipeline, which was followed by the development of Georgia's transport potential, access to the international arena and the creation of its image of a reliable and significant transit country. Through this project, Georgia finally has come back and took her place on the world map as a historically  transit country, offers the best transit route from East to West and vice versa," said the prime minister.

In turn, Rasizade said that the Baku-Supsa, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline, Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan projects are strategic and at the same time the international projects, which are important not only for the Azerbaijani and Georgian peoples, and for the welfare of the region.

The railway Baku-Tbilisi-Kars is planned to open this year, he said.  "Currently, there works on the project of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway are ongoing,  and opening is planned for  this year. The project is of strategic importance for both Azerbaijan and Georgia, it has an international character," he said.

The meeting of the government administration was attended also by  Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Georgia Kakha Kaladze, Georgian Economy Minister Dmitry Kumsishvili, Energy Minister of Azerbaijan Natig Aliyev, President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR / SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev. -02D-
