The National Council may refuse to participate in parliamentary elections
The National Council of Democratic Forces admits boycott the upcoming parliamentary elections this year. In a statement, the National Council said that participation in the elections does not make sense unless electoral reforms will be carried out.
The statement authors remind us that elections will take place in 9 months, but pre-election situation in the country is not felt. Authorities continue to press civil society and political opponents. At the same time, they ignore the calls inside the country and abroad to create normal conditions for elections.
National Council states that its participation in the elections will be possible in the form of an electoral bloc. At the same time, the importance of amending the Electoral Code and the formation of election commissions is noted.
In January 2012, the country's prominent lawyers prepared a "Memorandum of electoral reforms" which united organizations, public figures, and experts. The National Council believes that the Milli Majlis shall discuss electoral reforms on the basis of this document. -03D04-
