The party "Umid": There is no alternatives to the European integration of Azerbaijan
The "Umid" issued a statement expressing regret regarding the appeal of journalists and cultural figures to the President Ilham Aliyev with request to reconsider Azerbaijan’s participation in the EU program "Eastern Partnership".
The party " Umid " believes that under the complex and conflicting geopolitical processes, Azerbaijan must make a decisive choice in favor of Euro-Atlantic integration, to protect its sovereignty.
"Umid" considers it important to enhance cooperation in the framework of the "Eastern Partnership" and sign at a summit in Vilnius an agreement " On associative relationship" and the simplification of the visa regime with the EU. The preliminary investigation into the case of Aziz Orujov, the director of the internet TV channel Kanal-13, has been completed and the case has been sent to the Sabail District Court in Baku, reported his lawyer, Bakhruz Bayramov. On December 9, 2024, the third round of political consultations was held in Riyadh between the foreign ministries of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan reported. On December 10, the Ganja Serious Crimes Court issued a verdict in the case of Sahib Mammadzade, head of the Dashkasan district organization of the Azerbaijan People's Front Party (APFP). The court found him guilty of the large-scale illegal trafficking of narcotics and sentenced him to 6.5 years in prison, his lawyer, Zabil Gahramanov reported. According to the lawyer, an appeal will be filed against the verdict. He emphasized that the court did not establish a clear link between Mammadzade and the drugs in question.
