The US Embassy also did not explain why it ignored trip to Shusha
Baku /12.07.21 / Turan: The US Embassy to Azerbaijan, like the French Embassy, did not consider it necessary to explain why it refused to travel to Shusha.
So, to the question of Turan: Why did Ambassador Litzenberger reject the Government’s invitation to travel to Shusha on July 9th? The embassy answered this question as follows: “We don’t comment on details regarding the Ambassador’s schedule, or the reasons why he is able or unable to attend specific events. For the record, we understand that there were a number of diplomatic missions in Baku that were unable to attend Friday’s trip to Fuzuli and Shusha”.
Why did the Ambassadors of the 3 Minsk Group Co-Chairs- the U.S., Russia, and France- all take the same position, and reject the July 9th invitation to visit Shusha? To this question the Embassy replied:
“We don’t comment on details regarding the Ambassador’s schedule. We’d refer you to the French Embassy and Russian Embassy for details regarding their Ambassadors”.
Note that the response from the US Embassy is surprisingly the same as the response from the French Embassy. It seems that they were written in the same office.
It is likely that the response from the Russian Embassy will look exactly the same. -02B-
