Thirty two Islamists are accused
Preventive measure, arrest, was adopted against 32 of 74 arrested during the protest on October 5 in front of the Ministry of Education, according to the press service of the General Prosecutor Office. Another 14 people were subjected to administrative arrest; administrative penalty was made against 28 detainees, in the form of a warning.
The protesters demanded to lift the ban on hiajbs (headscarves) in schools. Attempts of police to disperse the protesting believers called the resistance of Islamists. During the clashes, police used truncheons, and demonstrators - sticks and stones. Several police officers were seriously injured.
On the same day, in the Baku Prosecutor Office filed a lawsuit under the Article 223
(disorderly conduct) and 315.2 (resistance and the use of force against a government officials.)
On October 5 the action of protest became the most massive and aggressive action of believers over the past year and a half. –06D-

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) today issued five rulings on applications from Azerbaijan. The case of "Afgan Mammadov v. Azerbaijan" concerned the complainant's exclusion from the Bar Association. Mammadov was expelled based on a complaint filed by a colleague, which he considered unjust. The ECHR ruled that Mammadov's rights had been violated and ordered Azerbaijan to pay him €5,000 in compensation for moral damage and €1,000 to cover legal costs.

During the ongoing COP29 climate conference in Baku on November 14, a group of activists staged a protest condemning Russia's aggression against Ukraine. The activists also denounced countries that supply oil and weapons to nations waging aggressive wars. The protest featured placards with slogans such as: "From fossil fuels to peace!", "End war crimes!", "Punish the aggressor!", and "Phase out fossil fuel use to achieve peace!" among others.
