Bar Association released the results of monitoring of courts

Bar Association released results of the monitoring of trials and events in September 2012.  Monitoring was conducted in the framework of the project "Monitoring of judicial protection of political rights", implemented with the support of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). In particular,  monitoring  of the trial of the chief editor of "Khural" newspaper, Avaz Zeynalli, accused of bribery, tax evasion, not execution the court decisions was conducted in September.

Defense denies all the charges. There is no  fact of  bribe is not, and witnesses were prompted. Charges of tax evasion is also unreasonable, the newspaper worked at a loss.  The newspaper was  31 times subject to judicial penalties. This campaign against the paper is related to its independent position, adherence to principles to the facts of lawlessness and corruption. When arresting Zeynalli, the Article 5 of the European Convention on Human Rights  was violated, and  the arrest was not properly grounded.

Another process, the subject of monitoring, became the  complaint  of the head of the executive committee of the Liberal Party, Avaz Temirkhan, to refuse admission to the Bar. Consideration of the appeal was postponed for October 10. As for the monitoring of mass actions, the report states the dispersal  of the action of believers  on September 17  in front of the  U.S. Embassy.—06D--
