Turkmen Foreign Ministry Moscow: Do not attempt to embroil us with Baku
Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs accused the Russian media of an attempt to embroil Ashgabat Baku. Recently, some Russian media published information exaggerating the view of the possibility of a crisis in the Caspian Sea, reads press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on 20 September.
In particular, the agency noted publishing by "REGNUM" a speech of the employee of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Stanislav Pritchin, at the conference in Aktau, which tried to present in a negative light the Turkmen-Azerbaijani relations.
"The Turkmenistan noted that statements regarding the state of the Caspian Sea between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, are not true. Cooperation between the two countries develops the principles of mutual respect and constructive dialogue, and is based on the traditional ties of friendship and good neighborliness between the two fraternal people.
At the same time, Turkmenistan, which is an active participant in the negotiations on the Caspian Sea, from the outset supports consideration of all the issues in the legal field and through diplomatic means," reads the statement.
The expert argued that the discrepancies between Baku and Ashgabat are antagonistic, and the controversy surrounding the offshore fields in the Caspian Sea could lead to armed confrontation between the two countries. -02D-
