Zakir Garalov - lifelong Attorney?
Today the Milli Majlis approved the fourth five-year term Zakir Garalov, the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan. Speaking to MPs, Garalov thanked the President for high confidence in him.
Zakir Garalov (1956) first time became the Prosecutor General in 2000, and in 2005 his powers were extended. Then the legislation prohibited the appointment of Garalov as a Prosecutor General for a third term. However, in 2009 the law on "Prosecutor" has been modified, and the restriction prohibiting the appointment of one person more than twice the Attorney General was canceled. Now Garalov may remain in this position until the end of life. -02D-
