Ali Insanov does not believe in the sincerity of the authorities
Baku/02.03.21/ Turan: Branches of the Law and Justice Party have been created in 60 districts and cities of the country and the process of forming structures continues. Party leader, ex-Minister of Health Ali Insanov said this in an interview with Voice of America. The party re-submitted documents for registration to the Ministry of Justice, he said.
Insanov expressed doubts about the sincerity of the authorities, who declared their readiness to conduct a dialogue with the opposition.
“The position of those invited to the dialogue is known. However, opposition parties do not only consist of those with whom the authorities communicate. We are also not against negotiations and the authorities should invite all parties, openly announce the agenda, announce what issues they want to discuss. The current negotiations do not inspire confidence, for they are being conducted behind closed doors. What they talk about, what they agree on, what problems are put forward - all this remains unknown," Insanov said.
He also criticized the authorities' policy on the Karabakh conflict, calling the agreement of November 10, 2020 (a joint statement by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and the Russian Federation) a "black spot" in the country's history, considering it a "capitulation" for Baku.
“In the conditions when our army won and completed the liberation of the territories, everything was surrendered to the Russians, who under the guise of “peacekeepers” captured Karabakh. Today the occupation army behaves as it wants in Karabakh,” Insanov said. In his opinion, "work should be carried out on the withdrawal of Russian troops from Azerbaijan."
Secondly, Insanov believes that negotiations with Armenia are necessary with the mediation of Turkey, the EU and the United States. "The participation of Russia cannot satisfy us, because the goal of Russia is the occupation of Nagorno-Karabakh and the strengthening of its positions in the South Caucasus," Insanov said.
Motivating his words, he said that Russian troops are conducting exercises for the Armenian military in Karabakh, passing the military from Armenia through the Lachin corridor, and contributing to the strengthening of separatist sentiments in the region.
As for the Armenian population of Karabakh, Azerbaijan must convince the Armenians that they can live peacefully and comfortably in Karabakh by accepting Azerbaijani citizenship.
"If the Yerevan government is not convinced to accept our proposals, then Russia will always use the Armenians of Karabakh against us," Insanov said.
* Ali Insanov was arrested in 2005 on charges of attempting a coup, but then the charge was changed to economic crimes. The court imprisoned him for 9 years. While in prison, he was charged with drug trafficking. The European Court of Human Rights ruled that his arrest was unfounded.
In the year 2019, he was pardoned and released. He remains one of the main critics of the authorities. —03B06-
