The Georgian people chose to continue reforms
The government is not able to delay the process of initiation of Azerbaijan to the European democratic process, said Mehman Aliyev, Director of Turan news agency, in his in an interview with “Objective TV” (obyektiv.tv). This is how he commented on the results of the conference held in Tbilisi on October 30: "Promoting freedom, peace and prosperity. Potential relationship of the Southern Caucasus and Russia. "
The event, organized by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, was attended by leaders of parties three South Caucasus countries, members of the European Liberal Democrat and Reform Party, "Musavat" Armenian National Movement, the Republican Party of Georgia, as well as experts from the Carnegie Moscow Center and the region.
The conference took place in an intense manner, during nine hours the participants listened to nine reports, and discussions were constructive. In September, a similar meeting was held in Istanbul with participation of Turkish experts for the CIS and the Caucasus.
The events in Georgia determined keynote of the meeting. According to Aliyev, the parliamentary elections on October 1 in Georgia created a precedent of civilized regime change and the Georgian people have shown commitment to liberal values. These elections were a continuation of the "Rose Revolution" of 2003. During these years the nation felt the result of the sharp decline of everyday corruption and the dominance of officials, increasing the work of the laws, and therefore wished to deepen reforms.
Georgian liberal process is supported in Armenia and Azerbaijan. People everywhere are the same in the sense that they want the personal freedom of choice, respect for their constitutional rights. They are against the social, political, economic and other types of state violence, against totalitarianism and authoritarianism.
At a meeting in Tbilisi, the topic of the North Caucasus became a subject of a special discussion in the framework of stability in the Caucasus. Russian experts have recognized that complex processes are in the region, which are affected by the ethnic and the Islamic factor, economic and social problems, and the weak influence of the center in the North Caucasus republics. Moscow experts said that the Kremlin understands the need for constructive dialogue with Georgia and other countries of the South Caucasus, without which there cannot be regional stability, said Aliyev.—0—
