A. Khurshudov, an activist ofMusavat sentenced to five years in prison
Baku / 04.05.18 / Turan: A trial in the case of the head of the local organization of the Musavat party, AlikramKhurshudov, was completed in the Shirvan city court.
The court sentenced him to five years in prison, Turan was told in the Musavatparty.
Khurshudov was arrested on November 22, 2017 in the city of Shirvan.
In the final indictment he was charged with committing crimes under the Article 221.3 of the Criminal Code (hooliganism with the use of weapons) and Article 315.2 of the Criminal Code (providing resistance to violence against a representative of power) of the Criminal Code.
The Musavat Party believes that Khurshudov was arrested for opposition activities on trumped-up charges."AlikramKhurshudov, being a member of the Musavat Party, took an uncompromising stance against lawlessness in the city of Shirvan. Recently, he shared on social networks information about the illegal business of the head of the city, corruption in the region, as well as the reception of workers of the budgetary sphere to the ruling New Azerbaijan Partyby administrative measures. "The meetings of the local organization of the Musavat Party was held in Khurshudov's house, and the real reasons for Khurshudov's arrest are related to his above-mentioned activities," the Musavat party said in a statement.
The party demanded the unoccupied release of Khurshudov.
The powers ofNeymatKerimli, defenderof Khurshudov last month, were suspended for 1 year, by the decision of the Presidium of the Bar Association. -05B06-
