ACTIONS IN FRONT OF ORTHODOX CHURCHES TO PROTEST AT BURNING OF KORAN IN U.S.
This morning representatives of Cuma religious community have staged a series of actions to protest at burning of Koran in one of the U.S. states. The peaceful actions have been staged in front of the Orthodox churches in Baku. The protesters carried flowers, flags of Azerbaijan and Koran.
Ilgar Ibragimoglu, chief of the community, told Turan that burning of Koran can be interpreted as terror and people that have committed that bear no relation to Christianity. As far as place of the action is concerned, we have chosen it to urge the Orthodox church to condemn the fact, he added.
Father Constantine, press office of the Russian Orthodox Church, said that those who have burnt Koran are atheists.
No actions have been staged in front of the Catholic church in Baku.
