Activists of Kura Staff Released in the Courtroom
The court released an activist in Saatli, sentencing him to a prison sentence suspended
In the evening of 18 September was released a civic activist from the village Novruzlu in Saatli, Mirabad Rzayev. The Saatli district court found him guilty under Article 315.1 ("the use of force against public authorities") of the Criminal Code. The activist was sentenced to 1.5 years of probation. Rzayev was released in the courtroom, the Kura Staff NGO Coordinator Oktay Gyulalyev told Turan .
"I have just talked to Mirabad Rzayev on the phone. He is at home and asked to convey greetings to all who stood in his defense," said Gyulalyev.
Recall that Mirabad Rzayev and his son Mirsaleh Rzayev were detained on July 13 in the building of the executive in Saatli, where they came together with the villagers to complain of the delay of restoring their homes affected by the devastating floods in the Kura and Araz rivers in the spring and summer of 2010 .
But a provocation was organized against the Rzayevs and they were arrested.
Rzayev Jr. was subjected to administrative detention for 10 days. For Mirabad Rzayev the Saatli district court chose a measure of detention for a period of 2 months.
The Kura Staff NGO regarded the accusations of Rzayev flimsy, and demanded his release and had his case under scrutiny. -06B -
