All those involved in torture in the "Terter case" should be punished - human rights activist
Baku/07.12.22/Turan: The public association "Baku Human Rights Club" (BCHR) welcomed the termination by the Prosecutor General's Office of the criminal prosecution against 19 defendants in the "Terter case" and their release. The BCHR also calls for the identification of all those involved in the torture of those convicted in the "Terter case" and bringing them to justice.
In a statement dated December 7, the BCHR notes that the servicemen were severely tortured, forced to give false testimony, and sentenced to prison terms ranging from 10 to 20 years.
After the resumption of the investigation in this case in 2021, the BCHR submitted a certificate to the Prosecutor General’s Office, which noted the need to review the cases of those unjustly and illegally convicted.
The BCHR considers the decision to release those convicted in the "Terter case" a significant step towards building a state of law.
At the same time, the BCHR notes the need to establish the full range of persons involved in torture and falsification of charges in the "Terter case" and bring them to justice.
The BCHR also insists on reviewing the cases of 12 more military men arrested in other military formations and convicted on similar charges.
In addition, the importance of determining the circle of victims in the "Terter case" and restoring their rights is noted. –06В-
