An independent doctor considered it expedient to transfer Salekh Rustamov to a civil clinic
Baku/14.12.21/Turan: Saleh Rustamov, who is on hunger strike for 39 days, was visited today by an independent doctor, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Adil Geybulla.
He considered it appropriate to transfer Rustamov to a civilian clinic.
In the professor's opinion, the dangerous (for life) stage of the hunger strike has already begun for Rustamov. “As a result of prolonged refusal to eat, changes have occurred in the body. He has lost significant body weight. Changes have occurred in other organs and tissues, "Geybullah told Turan.
According to the doctor, against the background of a weakening of the immune system, any possible side disease, for example pneumonia, or even a common cold, can dramatically change Rustamov's condition.
“Therefore, the question arises of transferring him to a civilian clinic for rehabilitation. As a doctor, I suggested it. Now we are awaiting a decision from the relevant structures. If he is transferred to a civilian clinic, then Rustamov can be provided with more effective assistance, ”Geybulla said.
According to him, declaring a dry hunger strike always carries threats for the patient.
“When you refuse to take water, the body is less fluid and the patient can fall into a coma within a few days. In such a situation, it is difficult to predict the reaction of a patient in a coma and how he will get out of a coma, "Geybulla noted.
When asked whether Rustamov was force-fed, Geybulla answered negatively.
“I asked him about it. If it were so, he would inform me. He had previously been offered artificial or tube feeding. But Rustamov refused, ”Geybullah said.
