Another land subsidence, this time in the city center
Baku /18.10.18/Turan: Another land subsidence occurred the day before, this time not in the Bayil sector, but in the very center of the capital. This happened in the site of construction of high-rise housing on the street Samed Vurgun, just below the Central Market "Taza Bazar".
Due to the deep work under the foundation pit of the building, the huge mass of the landh "went" down several meters. The total length of the sinking was 60 meters, and the width -3 meters.
Nobody took responsibility for the situation. Builders claim that they did everything right.
However, the State Highway Agency has accused the construction company of a security breach: there were not supporting piles around the pit, and it caused the collapse. Luckily, there were no injuries. The city authorities are studying the damage, and are negotiating with the builders how to restore the site. -02B-
