ANS Employee Wins Case against ANS TV Leadership
The first Baku Administrative-Economic Court upheld the claim of the editor Sarkhan Veliyev against the broadcaster ANS to pay salaries.
According to the court, ANS leadership in Mirshahin Agayev's face for a long time refused to pay the salary of the geek-editor Sarkhan Veliyev. It is about 870 AZN salaries for April and May 2015.
During the trial it became known that Veliyev repeatedly appealed and requested the payment of his salary under the contract, but instead, he was just dismissed and threatened with calling the police.
After a long ordeal and threats, the television employee decided to go to court. He demanded payment of salaries and moral damages for gross violation of his rights.
Having considered the claim from Veliyev, the court chaired by Aida Hussein decided to partially satisfy the claim. Thus, the ANS is obliged to pay Veliyev his two-month salary, 45 AZN of interest and 10 AZN for legal costs. At the same time, the court did not demand payment of 5,000 AZN for moral damages by ANS.
Note that the judgment was the first such decision when an ordinary employee was able to restore his rights violated by the leadership of ANS. Until now, the courts decided on fines against the broadcaster for violation of the law on advertising. The total number of such decisions is about ten and the penalty payment is 160,000 AZN. -02B-

Baku, often called the "Caucasian Dubai," is increasingly known for systematic violations of residents' housing rights. During urban renovations and the construction of elegant new buildings, thousands of families in Azerbaijan’s capital have been unlawfully deprived of their homes. Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
