On April 15 a preliminary hearing in the case of the adviser to the head of the party " Musavat" Yadigar Sadigov , sentenced to six years' imprisonment on charges of hooliganism took place in the Shirvan Court of Appeal chaired by Ismail Ahmedov .
During the meeting, the protection applied for a repeat trial. Judge partially granted the petition and appointed the trial for April 29 , according to the lawyer Khalid Bagirov.
However, because the judge's decision was not granted a lawyer , is not yet known in what form partial judicial investigation will be carried out.
"We hope that the appellate court will consider the circumstances that were not considered by the trial court," said the lawyer . He also expressed hope that the appeal court will grant the petition, which was rejected by the court of Lankaran.
One of them is a request from mobile operators to provide information concerning the location of mobile phones by people noted as witnesses of the incident. Petition was given because on the day of the incident they were not there at the scene .
* Yadigar Sadigov was arrested on June 27, 2013 on the complaint of a local resident Rashid Karimov , who claimed that on June 25 Sadigov beat him in the teahouse in Lankaran. Karimov’s statement was reprinted in the pro-government and state media before Sadigov’s detention. On January 13, 2014 Sadigov was sentenced to six years' imprisonment.
Human rights organizations believe that Sadigov is persecuted for political reasons for opposition activities and social network activity. Institute of Peace and Democracy honored him a human rights award "Isakhan Ashurov." –06B-
